Abandoned Farmhouse, Burra, South Australia (SA), Australia

This abandoned farmhouse was first photographed by famous Australian landscape photographer Ken Duncan. After that a lot of photographers go on their pilgrimage to that place. It's located 3 km north of Burra, on the Barrier Highway, just next to the road. The best time for photographing it is the second part of the day and sunset of course. Because of its popularity the owner had to put “Private Property. Trespassers Prosecuted” sign on the fence. You will probably not be able to find such sign elsewhere in that region. So please do not get over the fence in order to get better viewpoint.

Nice panorama, Ilya. I have seen Ken Duncan’s versions in a few books of his that I own. I wouldn’t mind going out here one time, myself! :)

Thanks, Beau! It’s a nice place but if you plan to go there then plan to visit something else in that region. I’m in the process of preparing travel notes (with photos of course) so you will be able to get idea of the region. There is only one problem – I’m a terrible writer!

The House was first featured on the 1987 album cover of the Australian rock band Midnight Oil. Sorry, Ken Duncan did not discover this old cottage. :)
