It took Edison more than 1000 attempts to create a proper light bulb. What a persistent guy! I take my hat off in respect.
It took me only five attempts to capture great sunrise at Caves beach near Lake Macquarie. Every time I was there the sky was flat, no clouds. But I also was persistent. And lucky.Last Sunday the sunrise was absolutely fantastic! For a few minutes colors were unbelievably rich and intensive. I only regret that it didn’t last long enough so I could shoot something different as the beach and rocks near the cave are very picturesque.
Question: How about more tight crop from the top and bottom?

Very nice. I would crop the top (it’s a lot of black) and leave the foreground.
Maybe a little bit off the top Ilya but not much, I think the dark top of frame gives a good balance to the foreground.
Buy I knew I missed a great sunrise but I had no idea it was this good. Dam… there has been a lot of good light getting around recently.
Thanks a lot guys! You are quite right – should be less on top. I wasn’t quite sure before. Will definitely crop a little bit. The natural frame shouldn’t prevail.
Matt, I’m actually quite surprised by the number of great sunrises and sunsets last month or so. One after another. Unbelievable!
Great sunrise colours you managed to get. As Liam mentioned, I would also crop a bit off the top.
Slight correction, Caves Beach is Lake Macquarie, not the Central Coast 😉
I’ve been meaning to get there for sunrise, thanks for the reminder.
Hi Andre, thanks for the feedback and correction. I’ve fixed the post. And will definitely crop from the top a little bit. I just always forget to do that!
