Mt Tasman and Aoraki/Mt Cook reflected in Lake Matheson, New Zealand

Mt Tasman and Aoraki/Mt Cook reflected in Lake Matheson, Lake Matheson, South Westland, South Island, New Zealand

Lake Matheson, near the Fox Glacier in South Westland, New Zealand, is famous for its reflected views of Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. The waters of Lake Matheson are dark brown, so on a calm day they create the ideal reflective surface. That’s why the Lake Matheson sometimes is called “the mirror lake”. Lake Matheson located five minutes drive from Fox township and to my mind it’s one of the “must see” destinations for every tourist on South Island in New Zealand.
