Sunrise at Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand

Looking up the Lake Wakatipu Towards Glenorchy at Sunrise, Queenstown, Lakes District, Otago, South Island, New Zealand

The road from Queenstown to Glenorchy that runs along the shore of Lake Wakatipu is rated as one of the top scenic drives in the world and the most beautiful road in New Zealand. Together with the Hooker Valley near Aoraki/Mount Cook and Lake Matheson it’s one of my favorite places in New Zealand. Also Lake Wakatipu and the places nearby (Remarkable Mountains, Deer Park, Queenstown and Glenorchy) were the filming locations for many scenes in The Lord of the Rings movie. This is the view from the Bennett’s Bluff Lookout which almost always offers spectacular panoramic view of the Lake Wakatipu and the mountain ranges nearby.
