Abandoned Farmhouse (The Burra Homestead), Burra, South Australia (SA), Australia

This abandoned farmhouse near Burra in South Australia was first photographed by famous Australian landscape photographer Ken Duncan and featured on Midnight Oil’s cover of Diesel and Dust. After that a lot of photographers go on their pilgrimage to that place. It’s located 3 km north of Burra, on the Barrier Highway, just next to the road. This old homestead at the foot of the Mt Lofty Ranges was abandoned long ago by smallholders unable to sustain a livelihood on this rain-starved land.
