One Flew Over the Aoraki / Mount Cook

When I made this shot I was hoping that the big mountain in the center could be the Aoraki/Mount Cook. What else it could be? And when I returned back home and checked the image under 100% resolution I realised I was right. You can even see lake Pukaki behind Mount Cook. Quite impressive view...

Northern Tien-Shan Mountains, View from Almaty City, Almaty, Kazakhstan

Made this photo a three years ago on the last trip to my home city, Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan. The highest mountain on the photo is Small Almaty Peak and it’s 4376m (14,357ft) high. It’s interesting that Small Almaty Peak is actually much higher than High Almaty Peak which is only 3700m (12,139ft)...

Northern Tien-Shan, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Roughly 3000m above sea level. From my film archive. Shot long time ago with my Contax (I still love it!) and 16mm fish-eye on color negative film. Color negative film is like a roll of plastic film on a spool with light-sensitive layer that people put into old photo cameras instead...
