Bangalley Headland is located between Whale Beach and Avalon Beach on the famous Sydney's Norther Beaches. Bangalley Head stands as the highest point and one of the largest bushland reserves on Pittwater's coastline. As the highest point on Sydney's northern coastline, Bangalley Head offers spectacular views. Also there are plenty of photography opportunities on the rock shelf just below the Bangalley Headland. The rock shelf itself is about 900m from the South Headland to the North. How to get there. Drive along the Barrenjoey Road and turn right into North Avalon Road in about 1 km after Avalon Beach. Park your car as soon as the road starts turning right. The start of the walking track is at this junction and is sign posted on the left. After you walk approximately 100 meters along this track, you get to the headland. The trail down is commonly known as a 'Fishermans Trail'. It's very steep, narrow and potentially unsafe, so please be very careful there. It's a good idea to have a walk there during the day just to see the track and have idea what to expect at night. There are many photography locations along the large rock shelf. Bangalley Headland is affected by tide. At high tide it's quite dangerous place and there are too much water on the rock shelf. The best time is when the tide is mid to low. Very nice and beautiful place for seascape and coastal photography. |
