Sunrise at Ivo Rowe Pool, Coogee, Sydney, NSW, Australia

Ivo Rowe Pool is one of four rock/tidal pools in Coogee, NSW, Australia (the other pools are Coogee Baths, the Ladies Pool and Wylies Baths). It is tiny tidal pool located on the rock platform at South Coogee. The Ivo Rowe Pool is a little gem for photographers as allows to create minimalist photography with incredible rocks that surround this little hole in the rocks. I made this shot a couple of weeks ago using 10-stops ND filter. Choosing the right exposure time when using ND filters like Lee Big Stopper or when stacking a couple of filters can be difficult sometimes. For years I was using a piece of paper with a ND filters cheat sheet that I kept in my wallet. Now we are using mobile devices more and more in our photography life so I created a mobile application – an electronic version of my ND filters cheat sheet (or long exposure calculator if you prefer) for mobile devices like Apple iPhone, iPad, iTouch (iPod Touch) and Android devices. (Sorry, I haven’t tested it on Android devices, but it should work as it’s written according to standards. Please let me know if you have any issues.)

There are two versions of the ND filters cheat sheet: ‘lite’ and ‘pro’ versions. The ‘lite’ version is for ND8 and 10-stop filters and the ‘pro’ version is for all filters from 1-stop till 13-stops. This mobile app can be added to iPhone/iPad Home Screen for easy and fast access. If you want to know more or just want to download this free mobile app please visit ND Filters Cheat Sheet / Long Exposure Calculator page.

That’s a terrific shot. Curious what kind of tripod you use to get such stability over a long exposure. I don’t have many filters, but looking into it.
