Cape Jervis Lighthouse is a lighthouse located at the headland of Cape Jervis on the most westerly part of the Fleurieu Peninsula, also known as Lands End, on the east coast of Gulf St Vincent in South Australia. It was first lit on 10 August 1871. In 1972, the original tower was replaced by a new tower. Cape Jervis was named by Matthew Flinders after John Jervis, a seaman, rose to become Lord of the Admiralty, 1st Earl of St Vincent on 23 March 1802. Cape Jervis is home to some of the best sea and country views to be found in South Australia with views overlooking Backstairs Passage and Kangaroo Island. Cape Jervis is the jumping off point for daily car and passenger ferry services to Kangaroo Island. It is a 45 minute journey that reveals the spectacular coastline of this part of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The Sealink ferry departs daily for the island. Be sure to stop at the lookout before the ferry terminal and enjoy the panorama. The famous 1,200 km long Heysen Trail starts at Cape Jervis, while Deep Creek and Talisker Conservation Parks are located nearby. Morgan's Beach is a popular fishing and swimming cove and Fishery Beach is as the name suggests, a great fishing spot. Many fishing charter operators base themselves at Cape Jervis, so there is always an opportunity to wet a line. Cape Jervis is on Tourist Route 52 and part of the Fleurieu Way Tourist Drive.

Beautiful sunset at Cape Spencer on Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. Cape Spencer is a headland located on the south west tip of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. It was named after George Spencer, 2nd Earl Spencer by Matthew Flinders during March 1802. It has been the site of an operating navigation aid since 1950 and has been located within the Innes National Park since 1970. The current concrete lighthouse was built in 1975 to replace a small automatic beacon erected in 1950. The cape is also the site of a high frequency radar station which is used to collect data about wind direction and wave height. It is easily accessible by road with a short walk to the tower itself. This short walk (approximately one hour return) provides spectacular views from Cape Spencer, including of the Althorpe Islands, West Cape and the rugged cliff lines along the southern coast of Innes National Park.

The Cape Spencer lighthouse is an automatic beacon which was commissioned in 1950 and upgraded to a cement lighthouse in 1970. It stands 78 metres above sea level and can be seen for 23 nautical miles. Cape Spencer overlooks Althorpe Island and, on a clear day, it is possible to see Kangaroo Island on the horizon.

March 9, 1802 'at noon, the furthest hummock seen from the anchorage was distant four or five miles; it stands on a projection of low sandy land, and beyond it was another similar projection to which I gave the name of Point Lowly'. The lighthouse was built in 1883 after the conditions were found to be unsatisfactory for the continued use of a lightship at that location. Materials for it transported by sea from Port Pirie or the rough coastal road from Port Augusta. The city of Whyalla (30km away) did not exist at the time. The lighthouse and its cottages pre-date the establishment of Whyalla and are the oldest European heritage structures in the Whyalla area. The original lighthouse was a 15 metres high sandstone tower with the optical apparatus imported from Chance Bros. England. It was first lit on 1 February 1883. After several incidents north of Point Lowly, the tower was extended to its current height of 22.8 metres in 1909. The first light was an oil wick burner until replaced in 1900 by a kerosene mantle type and then an automatic electric light in 1973.

Pondalowie Bay is a bay located on the west coast of the south-west tip of Yorke Peninsula in Spencer Gulf in South Australia about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) west of Marion Bay. The coastline of Pondalowie Bay and the land on the three islands have been part of Innes National Park since at least 1977 while the bay's waters have been within the Southern Spencer Gulf Marine Park since 2012. It is one of the pristine bays in South Australia. This small bay is a must see destination.

The Obelisk was erected on Cape Dombey near Robe, South Australia in 1852 and was used to navigate the entrance to Guichen Bay, as well as to store rocket lifesaving equipment. The firing of rockets, carrying baskets to distressed ships to bring passengers ashore, saved many lives. It later assisted passing ships with navigation because its height of 12m (40 ft) makes it visible 20km (12mles) out to sea. The erosion of the land surrounding the obelisk will mean it will eventually fall away so make sure you visit this icon whilst staying in Robe.

Robe in South Australia is a small town fishing port with a population of about 1,500 people. The town was named after Major Frederick Robe, which founded the area as a shipping port in 1845. During the gold rush era of 1857 thousands of Chinese immigrants landed at Robe on destination to Ballarat and Bendigo. Robe attracts many tourists seeking a seaside holiday. Long Beach is a popular beach for swimming, surfing and fishing. Long Beach is also one of Australia's few beaches left where you can still drive your vehicle along the beach due to its firm sand composition. The rugged rocky cliffs around Robe also provide ideal fishing and diving conditions. The best spots to fish include Rock fishing in Guichen Bay, wharf fishing at Lake Butler Boat Haven Channel or surf fishing between Long Gully and West Beach. A great attraction to Robe is the Obelisk shipping marker found at Cape Dombey. It was built in 1855 and stands 12m (40 ft) high and is 30m (100 feet) above sea level. The noticeable red and white bands help guide mariners when boating.

Robe's southern headland was originally named Cape Lannes by the French explorer Nicolas Baudin but its name was changed by Captain Matthew Flinders to Cape Dombey around the early 1800's. Robe was founded by the South Australian Government in 1846 only 10 years after the Province of South Australia had been first settled, became an international port trading directly with London and later the site where 16,262 Chinese landed and walked to the Victorian Goldfields. Cape Dombey's most striking feature is the 40 foot tall red and white striped Obelisk which stands 100 feet above sea level, defying rough weather and decaying limestone cliffs at this dramatic point. Built in 1855 by local builder George Shivas at a cost of 230 pounds, the limestone was carted to its site by a 32 bullock wagon team. Originally mariners were unhappy with the white painted Obelisk, as it was still difficult to differentiate the marker from Long Beach's white sand hills and the limestone cliffs of the coast. In 1862 the Obelisk was repainted in alternate red and white horizontal bands and it can now be seen from a distance of 20 kilometres on a clear day. Given the South East coast's notoriety for shipwrecks, with 30 wrecks occurring in Guichen Bay in 1853 alone, the Obelisk was used to store rockets fired to distressed ships which carried life lines and baskets for bringing passengers ashore thus saving many lives. Numerous dances at the local hotels, including the Caledonian Inn, were interrupted as fired rockets were heard and revellers in their finery deserted the venue to go to the aid of floundering ships. Upstairs at the Caledonian Inn you can find scrolled teak doors salvaged from the 1857 wreck of the Koenig Willem. The Obelisk has been repainted several times, the last in 2002 by the Save the Obelisk Society.

The Limestone Coast is a name used since the early twenty-first century for a South Australian government region located in the south east of South Australia which immediately adjoins the continental coastline and the Victorian border. The name is also used for a tourist region and a wine zone both located in the same part of South Australia. The Limestone Coast is an idyllic combination of beautiful beaches, stunning coastline, and irresistible food and wine.

The Fleurieu Peninsula is a peninsula located south of Adelaide in South Australia. It was named after Charles Pierre Claret de Fleurieu, the French explorer and hydrographer, by the French explorer Nicolas Baudin as he explored the south coast of Australia in 1802. The name came in official use in 1911 in response to a recommendation to the South Australian Government from the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia following a representation from Count Alphonse de Fleurieu, a great-nephew of Charles de Fleurieu, that places in South Australia discovered by but unnamed by Matthew Flinders be given the names proposed by Baudin's expedition.

The Eyre Peninsula is a triangular peninsula in South Australia. It is bounded on the east by Spencer Gulf, the west by the Great Australian Bight, and the north by the Gawler Ranges. It is named after explorer Edward John Eyre who explored parts of the region in 1839-1841. The coastline was first charted by the expeditions of Matthew Flinders in 1801-1802 and French explorer Nicolas Baudin around the same time. The region's economy is primarily agricultural, with growing aquaculture, mining and tourism sectors. The main townships are Port Lincoln in the south, Whyalla and Port Augusta at the north east, and Ceduna at the northwest.

The Yorke Peninsula is a peninsula located north-west and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east. The peninsula is separated from Kangaroo Island to the south by Investigator Strait. The most populous town in the region is Kadina. Yorke Peninsula was named by Captain Matthew Flinders, R.N., after the Right Honourable Charles Philip Yorke (1764-1834) (later Lord Hardwicke), narrowly beating French navigator Captain Nicolas Baudin (who preferred the name 'Cambaceres Peninsula'). Before white settlement around 1840, Yorke Peninsula was the home to the Narungga people. Today the descendants of these people still live on Yorke Peninsula, supported by the Narungga Aboriginal Progress Association in Maitland, and in the community at Point Pearce. Principal towns include the Copper Coast towns of Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo; farming centres of Maitland, Minlaton and Yorketown; and the port of Ardrossan. A number of smaller coastal towns are popular destinations for fishing and holidays, particularly from Adelaide. The south-western tip is occupied by Innes National Park.
